Five Women In The 27 medallists.
Seventeen year old Allanagh O'Sullivan of Lixnaw County Kerry, a student at Kerry BTEG, met with the first and one of the oldest visitors Paul Kennedy aged 71 on the opening morning of the event. Paul showed Allanagh his bronze medal that he won representing Ireland as National Champion in metal turning in Madrid in 1967. Little did she know that she would be a National Skills Champion three days later.
Earlier in the day the President of Ireland Michael D Higgins visited Ireland Skills Live and met Jenny Mangan at her Wild Atlantic Way installation before she knew that she was also a medal winner; National Skills Champion in Visual Merchandising.

It was a great inaugural Ireland Skill Live for the new Technical University of Dublin. They came away with no fewer than 7 medals; in Visual Merchandising, Car Painting, Logistics, Aircraft Maintenance, Bricklaying, Painting and Decorating and welding.
Munster took ten National Skills Silver Medals; Allanagh O'Sullivan, and another for The Kingdom with a great win for Aisling Delaney of Tralee IT in Cookery, beating off four other Commis chefs.
There were two wins for Waterford; Abigail Sheridan of Waterford CFE in hairdressing and Peter Jenkins of WIT in the innovative Building Information Modelling. Shannon took the Restaurant Service title courtesy of Ruairi Grealish.
But it was Cork CIT who had something of a bonanza, bringing 5 medals and national titles to Leeside.
Cabinetmaking was a successful category for Connacht's Jack Lynch of GMIT Letterfrack and Jack Meehan took the carpentry National Title.
Dundalk did 'The Town' proud with 2 medals.
27 medals were awarded after the finals of Ireland Skills Live; the inaugural gathering of the national skills competitions under one roof. Over 15,000 second level students visited he event over the three days.
“The Ireland Skills Live event is a very important exhibition" said President Higgins. "I don’t mind saying, I would love to see all parents bring their young people here. I believe that this exhibition will in time be as important as the Young Scientist Exhibition.”
Five young women were amongst the 27 winners, batting way above their representation in the National Skills Finals.
Many will now go on to represent Ireland at the World Skills finals in Kazan Russia next August.
Organisers declared the inaugural three day Ireland Skills Live event an unqualified success.
"This week we had over 15,000 second level students visit Ireland Skills Live, something we only hoped for back in October on launch day" said Donal Keys Co-Chair of World Skills Ireland.
"We have over 100 sponsors here, private industry working alongside Public Educational bodies, Government departments and semi-state organisations. This is how Ireland can work when we all come together; look what we can achieve."
"We look forward to us all coming back next year, for a bigger and better event, if that is even possible" said Ray English Co Chair of Ireland Skills said.
Over the three days, the 168 competitors used:
30 pairs of towel mitts, 32 mannequins, 300 eggs, 500 cotton wool balls, 600 napkins, 4000 bricks, 1 vintage 1955 Mercury, 1 tractor, 3 trucks, 1 helicopter, 1 jet engine. And 5000 marshmallows.
